The Death of Adsense?

Like many thousands of web site owners, I have attempted to monetize my sites using Google Adsense. In the early days it was a snap, but lately it's been a bit of an uphill battle.

For a whole swag of reasons, the returns from Adsense over most of my web sites have dropped, some quite significantly, over the past year.

For example, this site was earning around $20 USD a day back in March this year... But then, for some unknown reason, the vast majority of pages were dropped from Google's index, resulting in a 90% reduction in traffic

With a corresponding drop in Adsense income from the site.

While those pages have since returned, the traffic hasn't! I'm now at around 50% of the organic traffic (search engine generated), so there's still a way to go to catch up.

So how do you catch up?

I seem to be spending an extreme amount of time adding extra content to my sites - extra search engine fodder - and all those new pages also carry Adsense ads.

And while that's good for my site visitors in that there's much more "stuff" here for you, it hasn't really made that much difference.

Multiply that by a lot more sites that I run, all of which rely on organic search engine traffic - most of which comes from Google - and you'll see that my income is at the mercy of any algorithym changes that the search engines might make.

Too many eggs in the one basket there to be too comfortable!

So when I hear of yet another internet marketer shouting "Adsense is Dead", I thought I better have a closer look, and do some preparations now for a life after Adsense.
